Description
Digitally remastered SACD Hybrid edition of this 1981 album from the singer/songwriter. Recorded amidst a failing marriage, ongoing heroin addiction, alcohol dependency, and a sense of fading commercial prowess, James Taylor's Dad Loves His Work is an emotional juggernaut and musical marvel. Far exceeding the sonics of Sony's CD reissue, this audiophile version lifts up the cover on a world of sound, with Taylor's mellow finger-picked guitar melodies, gently reassuring vocals, and bittersweet deliveries brought to the fore. Listeners will also be able to relax amidst the soft clouds of comforting background singing by ace guests Jennifer Warnes, J.D. Souther, and Peter Asher.

My Dad had listened to James Taylor. As I'm approaching middle age, I'm listening to more soft rock. I think James Taylor has heart. I'm surprised most of the greatest hits do not have "I will follow" which was one of the best songs on this album. I really think it has a religious reference to Jesus. I think "Country Road" is a cross reference to this song. If the studios would place a CD with "You Got a Friend" after "Shower the People" and "I will follow" it would be very good."Her Town Too" was about divorce, at the end where the words end "somebody loves you", the song there is still hope and nothing is permanent. Most of the songs make people cry, especially "Up on the Roof" or "Carolina In My Mind".His later works with "That's Why I'm Here" was more upbeat. Just no one can compare to James Taylor, there were some attempts like John Mayer, but nothing can compare to him. There will be never anyone who will be comparable to his guitar riffs nor his voice.James Taylor expresses some irony in relationships and not all are happy go lucky. I think if someone is hurt, then James would really express deep meaning. I cannot believe he is such an underrated artist that isn't marketed well. For the most part, James Taylor songs have deep meaning and are depressing but still stick with you. I have to admit even if you break up in a relationship, you will remember and appreciate how a relationship is when you listen to a James Taylor ballad.
